Machine Tool Genome Project Pilot Shop Program

Picture
NOTE: The Pilot Shop Program is filled but your machining centers can be added to the Machine Tool Genome Project registry which will afford you many benefits from the technology. Please fill out the form at right and we will provide you information.
The Machine Tool Genome Project (MTGP) is a project funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The goal of the MTGP is to develop new science-based methods for improving machining competitiveness in the United States.

The MTGP is seeking a few high performance milling operations that want to take their processes to the next level and participate in our Pilot Shop program.

Participants in the MTGP Pilot Shop program will receive free use of a comprehensive shop management system, the Tooling Cloud, and priority access to experts in high speed and high performance machining. Participants will also receive  tool performance analysis by Ph.D.-level engineers delivered in RCSA Dashboards™. They will get first looks and use of new applications as they become available, including comprehensive evaluation, monitoring and optimization programs. Participants will receive free use of tens of thousands of dollars worth of testing equipment and access to training programs for their employees in advanced manufacturing technologies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Participants will have access to comprehensive characterizations of their machining system dynamics.  This data is a key component in improving milling performance, tool life, and part quality with reductions in programming time, secondary finishing requirements, energy costs and machine maintenance.  It is an integral part of an effective tooling system management system.

Non-Disclosure Agreements will be executed. Only anonymous and aggregated data will be published to the public unless you expressly approve otherwise for use in case studies. Case studies can be used in promotional activities by the participating shops.

All participants will receive acknowledgement on the project website and in all documentation pertaining to the project.
