Machining Center Economics
By tap-testing just ten milling tools, you may be able to justify the cost of a new machining center.
INSTRUCTIONS:
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Borrow milling tools (you can use worn endmills for tap-tests) from customer or replicate tools from your supplier. They will not be used for cutting so they can be returned unused. Select better tooling and/or toolholders as you and your supplier see fit.
- Tap-test each milling tool in your machining center. Submit files to BlueSwarf.
- BlueSwarf will generate Dashboards.
- Enter Dashboard data into the above calculator, optimized to your machine’s capabilities. NOTE: The Dashboards may find extra time in underutilized tools and suggest changes in other tooling to utilize the new machine’s improved power, speed and feed rates. Replace or re-configure those tools and re-tap.
- Present results.
